Canal Plus set to takeover Poland's TVN

PARIS -- Vivendi's Canal Plus Group is holding exclusive discussions while using ITI Group to obtain a controlling stake in Polish TV operator TVN. ITI must accomplish purchasing their 56% stake in TVN to Canal Plus with the finish of year, according to French newspaper Ces Echos. TVN has free-to-air channels, pay TV platform N -- the next greatest within the u . s . states -- and website Onet. Canal Plus was already a substantial player in Belgium through Cyfra Plus, which ranks as Poland's second greatest satcaster with 1.5 million clients. The Polish pay TV market leader is Cyfrowy Polsat. Deal enables Canal Plus to consolidate its position on Poland's pay TV market and undertake the Polish free TV landscape. Taken, ITI had began discussions with some other potential customers, including Time Warner, which was considered an innovator, along with Vivendi, to snap up TVN.
